Paparella

Paparella

Paparella investigates the history and visual tradition of a small Sicilian town.

A place where the past makes space and overflows into the present.

Paparella is a town with a long history of peasants, war and poverty, but a place where even the little things took on an important meaning, like a small pool of water with ducks then gave its name to a town.

Today as then, nothing has changed, despite the fact that everything has changed. There are still those nooks and crannies and those little houses where no one spends anymore, except time to corrode their fragile structures.

There are those who pass on the old traditions, hoping that someone will learn them and teach them to the next generations.

Many things, however, no longer exist, they live alone and the memories of the elderly, who look at young people with distrust but are aware that they too, once upon a time, were children of the same earth, born under the same sky and living by looking at same horizon.
